These talks are a meditative exploration into the nature of spiritual friendship – how meditation creates community, and the impact we have on each other through our thoughts, words and actions.
Community, Laurence Freeman says, is the manifestation of the experience of communion that is born out of loving attention. Giving our attention to another is an act of love because it is a giving of our self. Meditation, in whichever tradition it is practised, is essentially a work of attention and so, through meditation, a community of love becomes a practical ideal, something we can experience and achieve.
These talks were given at the Tibetan Buddhist Retreat Centre, Dzogchen Beara, Ireland in 2006.
