SINI TUULI MAKKONEN was born in 1996 in a village in eastern Finland surrounded by lakes and woods. She graduated as a social worker in 2018 and worked with recovering addicts before deciding to taste life in a contemplative community. Her eight months in Bonnevaux bore fruit in this collection of poems. Sini now leads a simple life as a deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland in Porvoo, filling her moments creatively with meaningful connections and a growing trust in the work of silence.
Her work Tears Come on the Way Home is published in Finnish under the title kotimatkalla aina itkettää and is available from Sini (sinituulimakkonen@gmail.com).
