The seven deadly sins in Christian spirituality were first formulated by the Desert Fathers as the eight principal faults: greed, gluttony, lust, sadness, anger, acedia, pride, vanity. These talks explore how we can manage them, turn them and free ourselves from their grip. 

Laurence Freeman helps us understand these inner struggles as excesses we resort to in our attempt to fill the void in our search for truth, for wholeness, for God. They are patterned states of mind that become addictive over time, and can be overcome through the ascesis and discipline of Christian meditation, a deep spiritual practice. Practised faithfully, meditation channels out a path for that beam of light that comes out of the deepest centre of our being. None of the big problems can resist exposure to that light.
